JOY WOODS

THERAPIST - LPC - Supervisor

Joy obtained her Master’s in Professional Counseling in 2006, upon which she began working with patients in an inpatient mental health hospital setting. During that time, she gained experience working with a range of individuals, from those suffering from severe mental illness to those struggling with substance abuse. Through this time and training, Joy obtained supervisory status with the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor (LPC-S). Her mission is to help every individual gain tools that propel them forward in life towards the fullness of confidence and freedom. Joy primarily focuses on working with women in the following areas:

- Depression
- Anxiety
- Health and Wellness
- Divorce
- Grief and Loss
- Body Image Issues
- Exercise/mind/body
- Self Esteem
- Relationship Issues

In addition to her time at Hope Connects Counseling, Joy serves on the counseling team with her church and actively mentors young women. Notably, health and wellness have always played a major role in Joy’s life. Joy is currently a fitness instructor and has been for over 20 years. She’s observed the synergy and benefit of the mind and body connection, and how the presence of exercise positively impacts mental health.

Opportunities to encourage these areas in unison are exciting to her. In her free time, Joy enjoys being physically active, the outdoors, being involved in her church, time with family and friends, and playing with her Staffordshire bull terrier, Lila Lu.
